Course description:
Refinement of reading skills and strategies with regard to a variety of different types of extended texts relevant to the university workplace such as reports and letters of reference. Introduction to critical reading and analysis of idea development. Practice in recognizing tone, intent, bias, and attitude. Development and organization of business-related expository prose in English with an analysis of both formal and informal registers. Practice in achieving appropriateness and accuracy of expression; advanced vocabulary development.
