Workshops offered by Altitude are reserved exclusively to graduate students, doctoral and postdoctoral fellows. A fee may be charged in case of non-excused absence.
Who should attend this workshop? People who are interested in exploring and acquiring necessary knowledge on ‘what is research’, it`s environment, it`s structure and keys components of a research project, all within a discovery and innovation setting!
Participants at this workshop will review and discuss the fundamental definition of `Research`, We will also discuss the process of the creation of a research project/program, carving a research project, review key components and research methodology (as per the targeted discipline and audience), key elements, etc.
This workshop will also provide an overview of the different phases of a research project to cover the complete life cycle of a research project, from its creation to closure.
Participants will discuss project reviews and modifications required when submitting to a funding body in order to meet evaluation criteria to increase chances of success.
This workshop is also offered in French
This workshop is the first of a series of 3 workshops on research and Research management.
The second workshop entitled ‘Managing my research project ‘provides participants an overview and provide guidance on how to optimise the management (administration) your research project within an intensive research institution’.
The third workshop entitled ‘Research…. Project management’ provide participants with an overview and guidance on ` project management principles ` related to managing `research activities` within a research project.
Workshop facilitator:
As a member of the University of Ottawa's research management team for more than twenty-five years, the facilitator of these workshops brings extensive experience/knowledge in research management, strategic planning, project planning, team building, financial control, enhanced efficiency/efficiency at the institutional level and strong organizational skills, multitasking and decision-making essential to success in complex workplaces.
The facilitator also has extensive knowledge and experience in large-scale project management, with a focus on managing innovative and far-reaching development initiatives to effectively meet the needs of a diverse research community;
As a retiree since 2015, he remained active in the field of research administration through various organizational review/evaluation projects, as a research management consultant and as a research management and research project management instructor.
