Refresher workshops for principal investigators who procure goods and services

Description

Description

Procurement Services will be offering workshops on Policy 36 and Procedure 4-3 during the week of November 29, 2021.

A few months ago, the University of Ottawa revised the guidelines for procuring goods and services that support research, namely Policy 36—Procurement and related Procedure 4-3—Procurement Standards. Following the revision, Procurement Services offered a first wave of workshops last February and committed to holding more this fall.

Both the policy and the related procedure provide instructions on how to buy from current or potential vendors and how to interact with them. The new policy and procedure offer more user-friendly terminology, set much-needed standards, and revise the reimbursement limits.

What do the refresher workshops cover?
The workshops will review the changes brought about by the revised policy and procedure, along with the related effects. Together, we will go over some of the top questions you submitted to us over the past year and provide descriptive material and real-life examples. You will also have an opportunity to ask further questions.

Prerequisites: Prior to attending these workshops, attendees must read both the Policy 36—Procurement and related Procedure 4-3—Procurement Standards, and view the information videos.

Who are the refresher workshops for?
If you procure goods or services in support of research, register! Whether you just need to refresh your memory or you require more clarification, these workshops are for you. We also encourage you to attend if you’re new to your role or to procurement in general.

Note: If you cannot attend, we recommend that you still register for a workshop tailored to your role so that you can watch the recording after the workshop. We will post it in the event’s MS Teams chat window.

These refresher workshops are intended for principal investigators working in the following faculties: Arts, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Law (Civil Law and Common Law), Social Sciences and Telfer. Separate refresher workshops will be scheduled for the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science.
