Description

Wellness Week 2018

Workshop offered by Professor David Paré

Mindfulness is undergoing an upsurge of interest in North America, both as a valuable wellness practice and as a psychotherapeutic application.  This brief workshop will introduce participants to the origins and key ideas behind mindfulness, along with guided exercises to provide an experiential taste of mindfulness practice. The workshop will conclude with some information on developing a personal mindfulness practice.

David Paré's teaching is focused on counselling and psychotherapy theory and practice. He is a counselling psychologist and a director of the Glebe Institute, a Centre for Collaborative Practice (www.glebeinstitute.com) in Ottawa, which offers psychotherapy training and services. Dr. Paré’s research is focused on contemporary, strength-based approaches to counselling. This includes narrative, collaborative and brief therapies. Particular research interests include reflecting teams, supervision and collaborative practice groups and mindfulness applications to counselling and therapy.
